Hope you didn't miss Engaging Faith 2010

Our inaugural Engaging Faith conference at Furman University exceeded expectations.  Jim Hollis and Marjorie Thompson provided all in attendance with much to think about.  Though their perspectives differed greatly, their talks were interwoven with common themes.

Jim's mastery of Jungian psychology and use of literary references were stunning and Marjorie is one of those rare people who literally exudes the love of the Sacred.  They were a powerful duo.  I am certain all of us who were privileged enough to spend the weekend at the conference will be spending the days (weeks?!) to come processing all we learned.

If you could not be with us this year, I hope you will put next year's conference on your calendar!

Successful connections!

Our first annual weekend of Connection Events was September 11-12.  On the 11th, people from 11 different faith based organizations came together to share ideas, events and to collaborate.  We all saw old friends, met new friends and learned about at least one event we did not know about.  It is our hope to put together some sort of community calendar where faith based events that are open to the public can be listed.  We also hope to continue to grow our cirlcle of friends.

On September 12, Kyle Matthews led a terrific Soul Music workshop and then wowed us with a concert that evening.  Kyle's incredible music was a  fantastic send off for our first Connection Event weekend.

Now we are turning our attention to the Engaging Faith conference that will be held at Furman University.  The engagingfaith.org website has a new look (see below).   Please see what you think and put this exciting conference on your calendar!

We've got a new look

Serving as Executive Director of NEXUS Center for the last year has been a privilege and has given me a year filled with wonderful programs and many new friends.  I have learned about so many interesting organizations committed to bringing thought provoking experiences to people who are on an intentional spiritual journey.

As I became aware of the many opportunities to hear speakers and attend workshops, I realized (as did the NEXUS Board of Directors) that NEXUS was often holding workshops on the same days other organizations had events planned.  After prayerful consideration, the Board and I decided that NEXUS (which actually means "connection") would shift gears.

Going forward, NEXUS Center will serve as a connecting center that helps promote events planned by other organizations.  We will work directly on two primary events each year: the Engaging Faith conference at Furman each winter/spring and a Connection Event each fall.  You will find lots of information about both of these events on this website.  In addition, you will find links to other organizations that have interesting speakers and events scheduled for the coming months.

I am thrilled to continue to serve as Executive Director of NEXUS and  I am very optimistic about the future.  I welcome your comments and questions on this blog, your e-mails (srstall@aol.com) and your phone calls (864.430-0637).

Hope to see you soon!     Susan Stall   srstall@aol.com    (864)430-0637
